Taking our stories one step further, into the open sea beyond the reefs
For anyone interested in authorial writing for cinema, in all its free and possible ways.

This workshop is an open place for continuous sharing, where you can give yourself time to write and find a method.

PROGRAMME
The tools: the study of the rules, form and methods needed for writing. Knowing the rules allow us to decide which ones to break and how to break them.
Rewriting or reading the subject. Give your idea an initial form: a single image or a succession of several images. Writing the subject means writing the starting point, imposing a first constraint.
Setting up a writing method.
Having laid the foundations of our work, we can then ask ourselves who we are as authors. Asking who we are in concerning the story means finding the point of view from which to tell it.
We will work on the subjects presented, reading them, discussing them, writing and rewriting them again.
We will feed the subjects with the images, the sounds that make up the heart of our stories: those images and sounds that we feel essential, that pushes us to write no matter what.
«Constraint does not preclude freedom, freedom is not what is not the constraint; on the contrary, the constraint is what permits freedom, freedom is what is born from the constraint» – Georges Perec, La Cheuse
Once we have found the balance of writing the subject, we then proceed to write what will be our script. We will focus on a list of what can be defined as ‘desired images’, those images we crave to see on a screen, and ‘images of service’, images that have the sole purpose of being functional to the progress of the story, exploring techniques for outlining, cleaning and balancing what we want.
Scriptwriting: knowing how to keep a soft balance, letting the text surf without making it rigid. We will get to writing scripts that know how to be adaptable to eventuality, to presentation, but most importantly to be able to be made, filmed and watched.
